During these hard economic times, many folks are having a hard time making ends meet. It's hard enough to put food on the table for your family and some are having to make the difficult plight of not being able to feed their furry family members. We've compiled a list of organizations and programs that will help provide pet food for low income families, helping to keep pets in their loving homes.

Description: If you or someone you know is in need of pet food, please call or visit the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society. As supplies last, we are able to help with small donations of food. Those in need of food can visit SFAS&HS seven days a week from 9 to 5. We're located at 100 Caja del Rio Rd, off of 599. Donations from our community are key to keeping the Pet Pantry filled with food. Cash donations for the Pantry and food donations (especially small bags of cat chow) can be made to SFAS&HS for the Pantry. Questions? Call 983-4309 x280.

Description: Mayor Martin J. Chávez announced a food bank for pets that will help low-income owners of dogs and cats in Albuquerque; a partnership between the Mayor, PETCO Foundation, The Storehouse food pantry in downtown Albuquerque and Albuquerque Animal Welfare. Pet food will be offered at The Storehouse, 106 Broadway SE, a food pantry that has provided free food supplies to low-income households for nearly 40 years.
