During these hard economic times, many folks are having a hard time making ends meet. It's hard enough to put food on the table for your family and some are having to make the difficult plight of not being able to feed their furry family members. We've compiled a list of organizations and programs that will help provide pet food for low income families, helping to keep pets in their loving homes.

Description: Animal Care Network helps low-income pet owners in Pontiac and Inkster, Michigan. We assist with food for dogs and cats, as well as straw, doghouses, spay-neuter, vaccines and other supplies. We also provide transportation for spay/neuter and make house calls for food and supplies for people with no transportation

Description: We provide dog and cat food (dry & wet) to families in hardship. Hours 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m Thursdays only. We operate totally on donations and 100% of cash donations go toward the purchase of food. It is our mission to keep pets in their homes and out of shelters.

Description: Kibble Konnection is a pet food bank program that helps low-income pet owners provide food for their pets. Kibble Konnection is open to the public, but interested individuals will need to fill out an application prior to the distribution dates. Applications can be downloaded from our website or you can call (616) 791-8066. Applications are valid for six months.

Description: P.A.W.S of Michigan is pleased to announce a new program to help keep pets in their family homes as they should be instead of in a shelter! Due to the poor economy many people are finding it difficult to feed themselves, much less their animals, and so have been forced to give up their loving animal companions. We will be accepting donated pet food and distributing it to area food banks. The food banks have agreed to distribute these pet food donations while they distribute their regular food. Description: Full Bowls, Full Bellies Pet Food Program: What started out as a program to help rural shelters get the food they need for their dogs has turned into a full-fledged pet food bank program for dogs (and cats) right here in our local community. We realize pet parents in Michigan have fallen on hard times and we want to ensure that the beloved pets we rely on to comfort and entertain us, especially in times of need, stay in their homes with the families who love them dearly. We want to prevent pets from becoming yet another euthanasia statistic as an 'unwanted' shelter animal.
